Hi,
I will be sponsoring US visitor's visa for my parents. They will be going to Kolkata consulate for visa interview. I believe my parents need to carry my Birth Certificate along with other documents for the interview. Do they need to carry my original birth certificate or copy of my birth certifcate is fine.

Carry all docs relevant to your current employment. Listing some.
1. EAD/H1B petition original
2. Employment letter from your current employer
3. If your current employer had filed/started GC process, then those document copies
You should be fine. When entering just answer the IO aptly. One common question is
1. Purpose of your visit?
2. Whom you are working for? <Be honest, tell them your current employer if asked>
If you are traveling on AP with family the above questions will be asked only to the primary person, they don't question others who are traveling with you.

If they do approve your I485, you still have 180 days to file your dependants. It is called "Follow to join". Do a google search on "Follow to join greencard for spouse".

Any idea how long it takes to get 485 approved. I applied on EB1. My I-140 was approved in Jan07. Any idea about FBI check I mean Background check,Name check and other checks.....how much time it takes....
And in case if it stck where it could be and how to check the status of that stuck??????????????/

My friends mom had a issues, She was here 6 months and came back after 6 months . POE officer took her for inspection and called my friend and asked lot of question , gave the warning saying 'Visiting visa is for just visting not to stay in US'....

I am in the same boat as u r in.....I made a typo on I-485 and want to send a letter....On form 485 for the question "In what status u last entered" I entered H-1B when it should really be F-1.....After sending them the letter, do u know if we'll get a confirmation saying that our request has been approved?

Hi,
Only pay for your H1 if you know employer or any of your friend has done H1 process from that employer and application was success.
You will find many scams to take H1 fees and never return your money back.
But try to find employer who is ready to file your case and in return can ask for some deposit money for security purpose and same will be return to you once you start working for him.
Whether to pay or not ?
It always depends upon individual..If you think $1500 - $2000 is not big amount for H1 then yes.. pay for it if you don't have any other option.
I did the same thing.. I search for employer who can file my case but was not succeed in that so finally paid H1 fees $2000 :( ...But I guess it will be worth it.

I filed 140 and 485 concurrently (July, 2007). Today I received an email update saying that a RFE has been sent about my 485 petition. There's a LUD update for my 485 but my 140 seems untouched. What kind of issues with the case would prompt an RFE for the 485 before the 140 is processed? Is this for a second set of fingerprints or could this be something more serious? Hi,
In order to avoid any confusion like this I provided an Affidavit rather than my birth certificate. [In my case the birth certificate does not has any name as normally the naming function will take place after 10th day only].

Big mistake. Yes, your lawful stay in US ends on 30-Sep-2007.
With the Visa from company A expiring on 30-Sep why did you travel without getting the H1 papers from company B in hand?
You should have done either of the following
1) Got H1 stamping from company B before entering US (or)
2) Entered US with company A’s VISA (before it’s expiry) and company B’s H1 approval notice, so that the officer could stamp the I-94 as per company B’s end date.
All that you can do now is to leave the country before Sep 30th and renter US with VISA stamping from company B.

I gave FP 2 weeks ahead of the scheduled date. They only checked whether I have a FP notice.
I got a biometrics notice which is 22 days from today. Is there a way to prephone the appointment or I can just go as you guys did

My case is similar too, my husband filed 485 for both of us on 29th June, we both have H1b. But on June 15th one H1b transfer was filed for me (dependent in 485) which was confirmed to us on June 22nd and I joined new company on June 26th.
But the whole transfer thing is not mentioned in 485 because we were not aware at time of filling forms (june 18th).
Is this going to create problem? do we need to send update/form to USCIS about this?
