You can change from L-1 to H-1 as long as your H-1 is approved and valid.
No you do not need to get it stamped while in US. Only if you go out of US and come back, you will need stamped H-1.

If I live in Canada but commute daily to work in US (Windsor/Detroit) can I file I 485 in US instead of consular processing ?

Did company B file the ammended 140 with immigration,if yes what happened to it.You could upgrade ths to premium processing and get an answer in 15 days.If approved I feel you would be safe.

U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) has launched its newly re-designed Web site (http://www.uscis.gov/portal/site/uscis). Although the Web site update was scheduled to be introduced September 22, 2009, attorney Eugenia Ponce visited the site Monday and has this report:
The updated Web site is organized according to categories.The categories are displayed as Topics, Forms, Resources, Laws, News, and About Us. The topics are categorized as follows: Adoption, Permanent Residence, Humanitarian, Citizenship, Members of the Military and Their Family, Family, Visit the U.S., Working in the U.S, and Genealogy. After clicking on a specific topic, I was provided helpful information and even more additional information was available through the links on the left of the screen.The advantage of categorizing the information by topic is that individuals are now able to familiarize themselves with the process from start to finish. There are other helpful links and tools within each specific topic.
Another key feature to the Web site is that there is a “where to start” link. Before, individuals could navigate throughout the Web site not knowing where to even begin their search on a narrow issue. Now, the “where to start link” will allow individuals to begin their immigration search by narrowing it down to their specific issue. For instance, there is a scroll-down available for individuals under the “where to start” link. It states “I Am,” and one can select from the various choices available and get specific information relating to any issue.
Given the new era with text messaging (even various airline companies provide flight and gate status information through text messaging), USCIS has upgraded its site by adding a link that allows individuals to receive case status updates via text messages. The newly designed site has provided a one-stop resource center for individuals with specific queries and I am excited in navigating throughout their links. I have changed jobs using EAD after 1.5 years of filing I-485. Can I file for a new Eb-2 case with my new employer and port the priority date of my EB-3 case ? Thanks.
Sure you can, as long as your new job requires a Masters or Bachelors + 5 yrs of experience and your employer is willing to start the process, you can do it. Being on EAD or H1 doesn't stop you from porting your PD.

Such half quotes cause more damage than do anything good for us. Maybe they picked up a few sentences rather than displaying the full context. I have not seen the full message. Looking at the quote and paragraph about 'Competing in the 21st Century Economy ' it seems like this argument is for more H1B visas and STEM exemption of H1B visas from its annual 65K quota.
Such messaging actually hurts us. Unless there is mention of 'Greencard' and 'backlog' such general statements would mean H1B to many.

I would suggest you to switch to EAD. There is no reason for you stick to H1-B anymore.

wanted to see the timeline of EAD renewals currently..I have a EAD renewal receipt notice date of June 18th......was wondering how many days is TX taking to approve the notice....
Did aanyone around June 15 -June 20th get any approval yet?
Isn't it too soon to expect it? They usually take 45 to 60 days. It has been only a couple of weeks.

My wife renewed her license showing 485 receipt as the evidence. I think the PA DMV Manual says that if your AOS application is in progress , You can renew your license for 1 year. We did not need to show the EAD.

There is no AC21 for derivative applicants. She can join any employer at any time. AC21 comes into picture only for primary applicant. Derivatives get almost a virtual GC in terms of EAD.
