alright..I came back without any problem.
Immigration at POE (Dulles airport) was breeze, first officer said, "oh..you have parole letter".
he checked something in the system and asked me to go inside..
Took baggage..went into customs...where they sent me into another room.
CBP officer took the AP..felt bad that I have been waiting since 2007 for GC..in < 5 mins, stamped and said, good luck..you are done.
Thats it.

Diptam, at this moment the best thing will be to get your wife an independent status.
She can get on to F-1 visa or file an H-1B visa. If your H-1B is being canceled for sure, then you need to move her on to an independent visa status.
Please talk to an attorney and evaluate all the options. I will say you need to act as fast as possible.

80-90% of H1B visa holders are on contract positions only and that was the sole purpose. Are you trying to say that all these H1B visa holders should take up permanent positions with the clients. One can do this also, no big deal but then who is going to cover the risk of layOff which can happen anytime with these permanent positions.
At least consulting companies do not lay you off and ur GC process doesn't gets screwed up in between and one doesn't gets out of status all of a sudden.
Also there had been some fraud cases by few of the consulting companies, but not all are fraud. Moreover tightening these rules doesn't stops the fraud company's, it stops all the valid consulting companies as well to run the business.

If the EAD does not come in time. I have a strong feeling that you can take leave without pay or with pay.
Paid leave is a benefit. You earn the leave ( 1.5 day every month you worked legally). The salary you get during paid leave is not the salary of the day you worked. It is a benefit you received when you worked during your legal stay. Hence I do not feel that one have to be leave without pay. For example if you get your tax refund when your EAD is expired. We should reject the refund?

I consulted an Immigration Attorney about this last week and she said getting laid off and being unemployed while 485 approval is pending should be ok. She told me that I have to have a Job with similar Job description and the pay mentioned in the Labor Certification by the time my 485 is ready to be approved

Great article! Surely, it must have gotten John Miller atleast thinking what is going on in the US! What he has called a faster process in the US takes atleast 8-10 years since arrival in the US!

TIme to make this site a paid site with tightly controlled information access and forum features available only to the members.
What is the purpose of increasing the membership is a majority are non contributing members. Doesnt money buys us much more then the membership numbers? Making this site a paid site will drive away most members but the remaining will provide a continuous revenue stream.

I completely agree. Members like ivgclive should to be banned. This is a public forum. If you know the answer, speak up, if not "SHUT UP".

People keep talking about RFE and LUD (soft LUD, hard LUD). Can someone explain what these are and what do they signify? I have my EAD, AP and my 140 is just approved. I have already passed 180 days after the filing of 485. If I change jobs can my employer still revoke my I-140 and harm my 485? These may be repeated questions but I am new to the forum .. and I m unable to get specific answers.

correct me if i'm wrong but we do not need to file this form, read the instructions on this link on who needs to file this form, an EB petitioner is not mentioned anywhere i can find:

I-485 instructions are very clear on who needs the I-865 form.
the documentary needs are very simple, in fact, the form is so damn simple i'm wondering why i'm paying sooooo much to my attorney.
NO tax forms are needed per my reading, check for yourself.
